Zion. Il a été nominé dans les mois suivants pour la seconde édition du Prix Polaris, qui récompensera un artiste canadien d'une bourse de 20 mille dollars dans d'une cérémonie qui sera tenue le 24 septembre 2007."

THE LORD DOG BIRD
In Officiel Jagjaguwar, "The Lord Dog Bird CD / LP (JAG118, released: 08/05/08)
The Lord Dog Bird is the solo recording project of Colin McCann, guitarist for Jagjaguwar artists, Wilderness. While the band was on extended hiatus, McCann kept at it, documenting his feelings about life and music at home on his four track. The result is a gritty, tactile document of a time spent in self-exploration and flux.
Through droning repetition and the unmistakable hiss and clip of four track cassette, a warm and engrossing atmosphere develops. These songs are buoyed by melodies that are at once sad and hopeful. The listener is immediately drawn in by their intimacy and honesty, with vocals imparting a sincerity and intensity that often borders on vulnerability.
While The Lord Dog Bird draws it's influences from a distinct set of predecessors, music itself seems to be it's main inspiration; a human attempt at honoring beauty; a music to help bring about healing and to celebrate change."

RICHARD YOUNGS

UK, Expérimentale
About, in Myspace, "Richard Youngs is a highly prolific and diverse musician. Born in Harpenden, England and based in Glasgow since the early '90's, his extensive back catalogue of solo and collaborative work began in 1990 with Advent. His music demonstrates a very idiosyncratic writing style, with songs often centered around a small clutch of repeated musical and lyrical phrases, a strategy likely born of a desire to reduce the form to its most powerful core elements.
It could be suggested his musical styles range from acoustic to indie style folk to progressive rock to improvisation to space rock with creditation of electronics. Whilst early works were characterized by a somewhat minimalist lo-fi production quality, Youngs has since graduated to using a professional standard computer-based recording system.
Throughout his career, he has recorded for over a dozen independent record labels, with VHF releasing much of his collaborative work and Jagjaguwar issuing the lion's share of his recent solo albums. Other labels have included Freek, Fourth Dimension, Majora, Fusetron, Table of the Elements and his own label, the self-deprecatingly named No Fans Records. He has composed collaboratively with the likes of Matthew Bower, Brian Lavelle, Neil Campbell, Stephen Todd, Makoto Kawabata, Alex Neilson, Andrew Paine (both under their given names and as prog-revivalists Ilk), Telstar Ponies, and most extensively with Simon Wickham-Smith, their releases occasionally being issued under the obtuse moniker R!!!S!!!. He has performed live with Vibracathedral Orchestra, Sunroof! and Skullflower and was also a member of the collective A Band, appearing on many of their releases.
Recently, Youngs has been gaining attention from his recent live sideman gigs as bassist for the notoriously reclusive American avant-folk/blues singer/songwriter Jandek. Youngs can be heard on the Glasgow Sunday, Newcastle Sunday and Glasgow Monday albums, which were recorded at Jandek's first 3 known live performances, taking place in Glasgow on 17th October 2004, in Gateshead on 22nd May 2005 and in Glasgow on 23rd May 2005 respectively. His most recent solo album The Naïve Shaman saw him receive some of the most positive reviews of his career to date and appear on the front cover of The Wire. He has since released his first collaboration with Simon Wickham-Smith in 5 years - the aptly titled 5 Years - as well as issuing several duo sets with Andrew Paine and reviving his No Fans imprint for a series of privately pressed solo releases."

Indie / Expérimentale / Post-punk Baltimore
Membres: Colin McCann (guitar)Brian Gossman (bass) Will Goode (drums)James Johnson (vocals)
About, in Myspace: "Wilderness has been an idea since the late nineties, when all of the members moved to Baltimore by way of St. Augustine & Daytona. In between there was traveling - to California and back. Sometimes together, sometimes apart.
It all seemed to materialize completely around 2001, when a few shows were played locally (opening for Lungfish, notably) and 3 years of recording began. These recordings would eventually become the 1st LP, released by Jagjaguwar in 2005. More shows were played and the pendulum was in full swing, bearing new material, and very quickly their 2nd LP, "Vessel States" was released in 2006.
Wilderness hibernated in 2007 only to awaken and begin again in March 2008, when they debuted all new material for a piece at the Whitney Art Museum. This became "(k)no(w)here", and sparked a tour in support of this endeavor.
Their songs touch on numerous themes like living through the end of capitalism, the beauty inherent in beauty, staring at the sky, listening to the woods, feeling the landfills topple and swell, vibrations in the market place, collective brain harvesting and the absolute falling all around the opinionated as the opinionated fall all around the absolute."

In, Myspace, "A propos de Sunset Rubdown
Easily one of the busiest people in indie rock, vocalist/keyboardist Spencer Krug of the critically hailed Montreal band Wolf Parade (as well as part time Frog Eyes member) leads Sunset Rubdown, intended to be an additional outlet for Krug's songwriting and slightly more experimental than Wolf Parade. Krug released the first Sunset Rubdown album, Snake's Got a Leg, as a solo work in July 2005. It wasn't long until he assembled a full band featuring Jordan Robson Cramer, Mike Doerkson, and former Pony Up! member Camilla Wynne Ingr. Following a self-titled EP, this lineup released Sunset Rubdown's second long-player, Shut Up I Am Dreaming, in May 2006 on Absolutely Kosher. It was followed in 2007 by Random Spirit Lover."
